The track along the eastern bank of the River Goyt is one of my favourites. It means that walk 6 between the main car park and Taxal, and walk 14 around Fernilee Reservoir, are both now passable.
The path had been closed to remove asbestos from the old building. But I hadn’t realised that the entire construction was to be demolished.
The building was quite an eye-sore, so I wasn’t disappointed to see it go. But it may confuse anyone who tries to follow some of the walk instructions and videos!
Taking a break
I’m taking a break from working on this website as I’m moving to Stamford in Lincolnshire. I started it back in 2011, so it’s been quite a long project, but wonderfully enjoyable.
I’m hoping to come back to it in the not-too-distant future as I have lots of projects I’d like to complete. And I’ll try to respond to anyone who gets in touch.
My sincere thanks to everyone who has helped and contributed over the years.
Best wishes
David
Thank you for all your hard work in putting this site together. It is not only interesting but wonderfully informative and easy to navigate. Good luck with your move.
I agree with Gail; very well put together, and so much information, thank you.
Just want to say how amazing I think this website is. It has changed my life for the better, since coming across it I have done at least 2 walks a week and it has motivated me so much. I have lived in the Peak District over a decade and until a few months ago had never visited the Goyt Valley. Thanks to your amazing website I have seen and done so many brilliant walks and I love it there so much. The descriptions and photos are so easy to follow and my daughters just love the history and the ruins. Thank you very much.
