Above: There’s some wonderful views across Buxton from Corbar Cross.
I’ve just published walk 23 in the series; an eight-mile circular walk from Corbar Woods on the northern edge of Buxton to Errwood Reservoir, returning through Cavendish golf course. It was recorded on a gloriously bright and sunny day in late March, soon after the coronavirus lockdown had been announced.
I’ve had a few negative comments that I shouldn’t be walking that far, or for that long, during the lockdown. But I set off on foot from my front door, and I don’t think I was ignoring any advice or breaking any regulations.

I’ve also posted a YouTube video of the walk. At 35 minutes, it’s probably a bit long for most people’s tastes. But one thing this pandemic is teaching us is that it’s good opportunity to slow down and take stock. And if you can’t make it to the valley, try playing it at full screen – ideally on an HD TV – and enjoy some pure Peak District escapism.
What a great idea and fabulous video. I did part of this walk today. I walked up Long Hill though – next time I will try this route to the Goyt via Corbar Cross. I think it’s inspirational. Many thanks and are there more like this?
