The Grimshawe family & friends

The Grimshawe family of Errwood Hall moved in very grand circles, counting the Spanish royal family amongst their friends. I haven’t yet managed to identify all the faces on this page. Click on any image to enlarge, and then scroll through the collection using the arrow keys on your keyboard. Please get in touch if you have any photos you’d like to add to the collection, or if you can help identify any of the people shown here.

Above: James recently got in touch to say: Thought it might be of interest to you that I may have identified the maker of the car in the image of the two staff members outside the kitchen range of Errwood Hall.

I believe it to be a Lorraine Dietrich, of a type known as a “Roi des Belges” tourer. I think it was probably built around 1906-09.

Interestingly it was registered in Roscommon, Ireland, so has travelled quite a distance to get to Errwood, probably carrying members of the Preston family on a visit?
