Click the image above to view the Countryside programme on BBC iPlayer. I think it will be available up to the end of February 2016.
This website typically averages around 40 visits a day during Winter – maybe rising to 60 on weekends. So it was a bit of a shock when I saw the figure hit 600 on Sunday night.

A quick check revealed the reason; BBC Countryfile had featured the Goyt Valley and put a link on the programme’s webpage pointing towards my Choose a walk page. The power of TV!

I missed the programme so have just checked it out on BBC iPlayer (click here to view). The piece on the Goyt is about 20 minutes in and features Dame Sarah Storey, the UK’s most decorated Paralympian with 22 major medals, including gold in both cycling and swimming.

Sarah, who was born without a left hand, lives in Disley in the Peak District and regularly cycles through the Goyt Valley on her training rides. She obviously loves the area and the film includes some stunning views. I was particularly impressed by her cycling up Bunsall Incline. (I have enough trouble walking up this slope!)

I’m hoping to get in touch with Sarah to see if she could share some of her regular routes.
